What Kind Of Changes Brought The Bag Law To The Work Permit For Foreigners?

Art. 6 of The Law on the Work Permit for Foreigners said: “Unless otherwise provided on the bilateral or multilateral contracts of which Turkey is a side, foreigners who has been residing legally and non-stop at least for eight years or having totally a six-year-legal work in Turkey may get a work permit without considering the situation at labor market and the developments in working life and also without restraint by a specific business, job and territorial or geographical place.”

However, with the Art. 22 of the Law on the Readjustment of Credits with Amending Some Laws and Decree Laws, the Law on the Work Permit for Foreigners was also amended. According to it,

Art. 6: Unless otherwise provided on the bilateral or multilateral contracts of which Turkey is a side and on condition that foreigners who have a permanent work permit before 11.04.2014 reserve the right, foreigners who have a long term residence permit or resided nonstop at least eight years in Turkey or worked legally at least eight years pursuant to the Law of Foreigners and International Protection Law no 6458 of 04.04.2013 may have a permanent work permit.

Foreigners with a permanent work permit use the rights of a long term residence permit stated on the Law no 6458 Art. 44.

Permanent work permit is cancelled in case of a cancellation requirement of a long term residence permit or by the demand of foreigner or employer.

Foreigners’ (with a work permit) records on arriving, staying and going out of Turkey are reported to Ministry (of Labor and Social Security) by the Ministry of Interior.

With the amendment aforementioned, on condition that foreigners who have a permanent work permit before 11.04.2014 reserve the right, foreigners who have a long term residence permit or resided nonstop at least eight years in Turkey or worked legally at least eight years now get a permanent work permit.
